Lesson Plans

The third section of the credibility White Paper, “Teaching Web Evaluation,” offered detailed theory and reasons to teach students about Web evaluation.  This section of the original White Paper highlighted four areas to help educators in teaching their students about Web evaluation.  The CTER 4 credibility group has created lesson plans to coincide with these four areas:

*

Need to Evaluate

*

Evaluation Techniques

*

Evaluation Practice

*

Assessment of Web Evaluation Skills

The four areas have been divided into two levels:

*

Level 1=  upper elementary (**grades 4-6)

*

Level 2=  high school (**grades 9-12)

**Note:  These lesson plans can be adapted to fit 7th and/or 8th grade levels.

The lessons plans for each level focus on similar objectives; however, different Web sites have been used in order to meet the interests and intellectual abilities of different age groups. Teachers in any curricular area can use these lesson plans to reach the goal of exposing students to the process and importance of evaluating Web sites.
