| His Infernal Majesty Píng Děng reigns at the bottom of the great Ocean, |
平等王掌理大海底，

| away to the south-west, below the Wòjiāo rock, called the Ābí Hell, |
西南方沃燋石下的阿鼻大地狱。

| A vast, circular place of many layers, |
此地狱围绕、重叠。

| eight thousand miles around in breadth, |

| jealously enclosed by an iron net, |

| 1. The Dungeon Where bones Are Beaten and Bodies Scorched. |
一名敲骨灼身小地狱。
Yī Míng Qiāo Gǔ Zhuó Shēn Xiǎo Dìyù. 一名敲骨灼身小地獄。 |
| 2. The Dungeon Where muscles Are Drawn Out and Bones Beaten. |
二名抽筋擂骨小地狱。

| 3. The Dungeon Where Ducks Eat People's Hearts and Livers. |

| Those who must enter this great hell are those who have committed the following sins: |

| 1. Those who on earth violated the laws of the head of state or emperor |
犯了元首、帝王所制定的法律条例中，

| such as one of the ten great crimes, |
像十恶中的极恶；

| deserving of lingering death, decapitation, hanging, shooting, or other punishment, |
应受凌迟、斩头、绞刑、枪决等罪事。

| shall, after passing through the tortures of the previous Courts, be brought to this Court, |

| 2. Also those guilty of arson, destroying the houses, property, and livers of others. |
放火焚烧房屋毁人家财、生命。

| 3. Those who concoct thoughts, recipes, or mixtures such as gǔ poison make gǔ poison (from poisonous animals), to confuse the gullible |
制造迷惑人心性的思想、方法、或团体（蛊毒）

| or manufacture stupefying drugs, |

| Such as amphetamine, morphine, and marijuana. |

| 4. Those who specializing in providing abortions |
专门为人堕胎的人。

| 5. Or who lure children into crime, |
专门诱惑少男、少女性犯罪，
zhuānmén yòuhuò shàonán, shàonǚ xìng fànzuì, 專門誘惑少男、少女性犯罪， |
| injuring their immature bodies |
伤害未发育成熟的身心。
shānghài wèi fāyù chéngshú de shēnxīn. 傷害未發育成熟的身心。 |
| or who violate young girls |
或者，强暴未成年少女。
huòzhě, qiángbào wèichéngnián shàonǚ. 或者，強暴未成年少女。 |
| 6. those who create obscene pictures or books, |
绘画黄色的图书、书籍，
huìhuà huángsè de túshū, shūjí, 繪畫黃色的圖書、書籍， |
| or make obscene films that would trouble a person of pure heart |
拍摄黄色的影片以扰乱人清净的心。
pāishè huángsè de yǐngpiàn yǐ rǎoluàn rén qīngjìng de xīn. 拍攝黃色的影片以擾亂人清淨的心。 |
| so that students don't concentrate on their studies, and pious people lose faith in the way. |
致读书人无心于课业，修行人退失道心；

| so that diseases become worse, and people have extramarital affairs. |
造成疾病更严重，人人不安于室。

| 7. Those who refine illegal substances that harm society, |
炼制有害社会的违禁药物，
liànzhì yǒuhài shèhuì de wéijìn yàowù, 煉製有害社會的違禁藥物， |
| such as hallucinogens or poisons that make people lose their senses of hearing or speech |
例如：迷幻药，各种使人失去听觉、语言能力的毒药
lìrú: mí huàn yào, gè zhǒng shǐrén shīqù tīngjué, yǔyán nénglì de dúyào 例如：迷幻藥，各種使人失去聽覺、語言能力的毒藥 |
| or such as medicines causing abortions. |
或堕胎药。

| But if those who have committed such sins hearken to the words of the Jade Guidebook, |
假如犯了以上罪事的人，自从听闻玉历宝钞的内容。
jiǎrú fàn le yǐshàng zuì shì de rén, zìcóng tīngwén Yù Lì Bǎochāo de nèiróng. 假如犯了以上罪事的人，自從聽聞玉曆寶鈔的內容。 |
| they subsequently destroyed the drafts and printing blocks of these books, |
能立即毁去淫书淫画的书稿与印刷的锌版，不再印行。
néng lìjí huǐ qù yínshū yínhuà de shūgǎo yǔ yìnshuā de xīnbǎn, bùzài yìnxíng. 能立即毀去淫書淫畫的書稿與印刷的鋅版，不再印行。 |
| if they destroy the methods and formulas for illegal drugs, |
将制造违禁药物的方法、配方销毁；
jiāng zhìzào wéijìn yàowù de fāngfǎ, pèifāng xiāohuǐ; 將製造違禁藥物的方法、配方銷毀； |
| and cease their evil thoughts and discontinue practising such sorcery, |
息止一切邪恶的念头，不再传授以上的邪术。
xīzhǐ yīqiè xié'è de niàntou, bùzài chuánshòu yǐshàng de xiéshù. 息止一切邪惡的念頭，不再傳授以上的邪術。 |
| then they shall escape the all these punishments |
若能如此，则准许免去各种苦刑。
ruò néng rúcǐ, zé zhǔnxǔ miǎnqù gè zhǒng kǔxíng. 若能如此，則准許免去各種苦刑。 |
| and be passed on to the Tenth Court, thence to be born again among human beings.. |
并立即交给第十殿，发放投胎人道。
bìnglì jíjiāo gěi dì shí diàn, fāfàng tóutāi réndào. 並立即交給第十殿，發放投胎人道。 |
| Whereas, if, having heard the warnings of the Jade Guidebook, they still continue to commit these sins, |
反之，如果闻知此玉历的报应内容，仍然去作以上的罪事的话，
fǎnzhī, rúguǒ wénzhī cǐ Yù Lì de bàoyìng nèiróng, réngrán qù zuò yǐshàng de zuì shì dehuà, 反之，如果聞知此玉曆的報應內容，仍然去作以上的罪事的話， |
| then ,they cannot be let off from their punishment. |
则罪刑不能得到宽贷。
zé zuì xíng bùnéng dédào kuāndài. 則罪刑不能得到寬貸。 |
| from the Second court to this one their tortures shall be increased to the most extreme punishment and death, as follows: |
且从第二殿开始受苦刑，到本殿，加重刑罚，添设极刑的刑戮；诸如：
qiě cóng dì èr diàn kāishǐ shòukǔ xíng, dào běn diàn, jiāzhòng xíngfá, tiānshè jíxíng de xínglù; zhūrú: 且從第二殿開始受苦刑，到本殿，加重刑罰，添設極刑的刑戮；諸如： |
| They shall be bound on to a hollow copper pillar, then the pillar shall be filled with fierce fire, |
将空心的铜柱，其中以火搧热，
jiāng kōngxīn de tóng zhù, qízhōng yǐ huǒshānrè, 將空心的銅柱，其中以火搧熱， |
| so as to burn out their hearts and livers; |
到能焚烧、烫毁心肝的程度；
dào néng fénshāo, tàng huǐ xīngān de chéngdù; 到能焚燒、燙燬心肝的程度； |
| Then their hands and feet shall be chained around the burning hot copper pillar |
而后用链子链住手脚，抱住炽热的铜柱。
érhòu yòng liànzi liàn zhùshǒu jiǎo, bào zhù chìrè de tóng zhù. 而後用鏈子鏈住手腳，抱住熾熱的銅柱。 |
| And when they have suffered in each of the dungeons: |
在遍受各小地狱的诸种刑罚之后，
zài biàn shòu gè xiǎo dìyù de zhū zhǒng xíngfá zhī hòu, 在遍受各小地獄的諸種刑罰之後， |
| they shall be plunged into the great Avici Hell to undergo every kind of torture |
发入阿鼻大地狱，受各种苦刑：
fā rù Ābí dàdì yù, shòu gè zhǒng kǔxíng: 發入阿鼻大地獄，受各種苦刑： |
| knives shall be thrust into their lungs and chests, |
尖刀穿过肺脏、胸部，
jiāndāo chuānguò fèizàng, xiōngbù, 尖刀穿過肺臟、胸部， |
| they shall bite their own ripped out hearts, |
口中含着挖出的心脏，
kǒuzhōng hánzhe wāchū de xīnzàng, 口中含著挖出的心臟， |
| and they shall gradually sink to the uttermost depths of hell, |
渐渐陷入地狱的深处、
jiànjiàn xiànrù dìyù de shēnchù, 漸漸陷入地獄的深處、 |
| there to endure unrelenting torment. |
诸种痛楚永无休止。
zhū zhǒng tòngchǔ yǒng wúxiūzhǐ. 諸種痛楚永無休止。 |
| Only after the victims of their wickedness have either recovered their property , |
一直要到那被害者的家、家业复原；
yīzhí yào dào nà bèihàizhě de jiā, jiāyè fùyuán; 一直要到那被害者的家、家業復原； |
| or if dead have been reincarnated as humans, |
死者个个另投人身。
sǐzhě gègè lìng tóu rénshēn. 死者個個另投人身。 |
| after their every obscene picture, book, or film, every published poison formula, |
当年所画的黄色图片及书籍、影片；所印行的毒药配方；
dāngnián suǒ huà de huángsè túpiàn jí shūjí, yǐngpiàn; suǒ yìnxíng de dúyào pèifāng; 當年所畫的黃色圖片及書籍、影片；所印行的毒藥配方； |
| after every object used by these evil souls —every book, picture, or film ever rolled, turned, copied, or engraved by them— |
所有鬼犯亲手印行，及辗转钞刻的书、图、影片等物
suǒyǒu guǐ fàn qīnshǒu yìnxíng, jí zhǎnzhuǎn chāo kè de shū, tú, yǐngpiàn děng wù 所有鬼犯親手印行，及輾轉鈔刻的書、圖、影片等物 |
| has been completely destroyed, |
完全消失、毁灭尽净后，
wánquán xiāoshī, huǐmiè jìn jìng hòu, 完全消失、毀滅盡淨後， |
| only then can they pass out of the great Avici Hell |
才准提出此阿鼻大地狱。
cái zhǔn tíchū cǐ Ābí dàdì yù. 才准提出此阿鼻大地獄。 |
| and pass into the Tenth Court to be born again in one of the Six States of existence. |
解交第十殿，发放投生人道。
jiějiāo dì shí diàn, fāfàng tóushēng réndào. 解交第十殿，發放投生人道。 |
| O you still in the human world who have not committed such crimes as these offenses, |
世人假若未犯以上的恶事；
shìrén jiǎruò wèi fàn yǐshàng de è shì; 世人假若未犯以上的惡事； |
| and on the 8th of the 4th moon, or the 1st or 15th (of any moon), |
而且肯在四月初八日；或在初一、十五日
érqiě kěn zài sì yuè chū bā rì; huò zài chūyī, shíwǔ rì 而且肯在四月初八日；或在初一、十五日 |
| fast from meat, keeping pure in body, word, and thought, then swear the following oath |
茹素、清净身、口、意三业，而后立下心愿：
rúsù, qīng jìngshēn, kǒu, yì Sānyè, érhòu lìxia xīnyuàn: 茹素、清淨身、口、意三業，而後立下心願： |
| that you will buy up all bad books, pictures, and films, as well as pornographic pamphlets, objects, or drugs, and burn them up, |
收买色情书、画、影片；色情的邪术、器物、药物，聚集来焚毁。
shōumǎi sèqíng shū, huà, yǐngpiàn; sèqíng de xiéshù, qìwù, yàowù, jùjí lái fénhuǐ. 收買色情書、畫、影片；色情的邪術、器物、藥物，聚集來焚毀。 |
| or that you will print and circulate copies of the Jade Guidebook |
或者印行，传钞此玉历宝钞。
huòzhě yìnxíng, chuán chāo cǐ Yùlì Bǎochāo. 或者印行，傳鈔此玉曆寶鈔。 |
| to pass from hand to hand and be a warning to others to reform |
使能辗转，一个传一个地劝化世人。
shǐnéng zhǎnzhuǎn, yī ge chuán yī ge dì quànhuà shìrén. 使能輾轉，一個傳一個地勸化世人。 |
| Then, when your last moment is at hand, |
则，在命终之时，
zé, zài mìng zhōng zhī shí, 則，在命終之時， |
| the God of the Hearth will write on your forehead the two words "He obeyed," |
灶神在他地额端写下“奉行”两字。
Zàoshén zài tā dì é duān xiěxià "fèngxíng" liǎng zì. 竈神在他地額端寫下“奉行”兩字。 |
| and from the Second court up to this one |
从第二殿起，到本殿，
cóng dì èr diàn qǐ, dào běn diàn, 從第二殿起，到本殿， |
| such evils as you have committed, |
凡是曾做各种罪事的，
fánshì céng zuò gè zhǒng zuì shì de, 凡是曾做各種罪事的， |
| can have since remitted because of these meritorious acts. |
可以以此功德，减轻其罪刑。
kěyǐ yǐcǐ gōngdé, jiǎnqīng qí zuì xíng. 可以以此功德，減輕其罪刑。 |
| People of wealth or influence, who securely arrest incendiaries, |
富有、有权势的人，能严格缉拿放火的凶徒：
fùyǒu, yǒuquán shì de rén, néng yángé jī náfang huǒ de xiōngtú: 富有、有權勢的人，能嚴格緝拿放火的凶徒： |
| who gather up and destroy pornographic books, paintings, or printing blocks, |
搜集色情的书、画、刻板，予以公开销毁；
sōují sèqíng de shū, huà, kèbǎn, yǔyǐ gōngkāi xiāohuǐ; 搜集色情的書、畫、刻板，予以公開銷燬； |
| and publish notices prohibiting such harmful things, |
并公告禁止所有遗害人间的物品，
bìng gōnggào jìnzhǐ suǒyǒu yíhài rénjiān de wùpǐn, 並公告禁止所有遺害人間的物品， |
| will be rewarded by the success of their sons and grandsons at the public examinations, and continuing riches and honor. |
则准予庇荫现世的子孙，科甲绵绵，富贵不绝。
zé zhǔnyǔ bìyìn xiànshì de zǐsūn, Kējiǎ miánmián, fùguì bùjué. 則准予庇廕現世的子孫，科甲綿綿，富貴不絕。 |
| Poor people, those in distress, orphans and widows, and sick people |
贫穷、苦难、孤独、老病的人，
pínqióng, kǔnàn, gūdú, lǎobìng de rén, 貧窮、苦難、孤獨、老病的人， |
| who, by a great effort, manage to have the Jade Guidebook circulated |
假若肯尽力请人印行，传钞玉历宝钞，
jiǎruò kěn jìnlì qǐng rén yìnxíng, chuán chāo yù lì bǎochāo, 假若肯盡力請人印行，傳鈔玉曆寶鈔， |
| for the benefit of mankind, |
以劝化世人的话，
yǐ quànhuà shìrén dehuà, 以勸化世人的話， |
| will be forwarded at once to the Tenth Court, |
准予立即送交第十殿，
zhǔnyǔ lìjí sòngjiāo dì shí diàn, 准予立即送交第十殿， |
| and thence be born again as humans in some happy state on earth. |
发往福地去投生。
