Research in Ethnic Studies 191B is designed to be a working quarter which follows the writing of the Research Prospectus that you wrote in the fall. This quarter will be dedicated to actually doing the research for your project and working with your chosen mentor(s). This will require meeting with your mentor to discuss your research progress and project in general. In addition we will meet as a group every other week, and more if necessary, to discuss and share our research progress.
This quarter you are expected to complete all research tasks that include library and archival research, any interviews, and participant observation or other work that you have planned to conduct for the final writing of your thesis.
By the end of the quarter you will be required to be ready to begin the writing of your honors thesis.
In working with your mentor:
• Go over your research plan at the beginning of the quarter with your mentor to make sure you can complete the research by the end of the winter quarter.
• Meet at least one hour per week with your mentor -Give a weekly progress report or update to your mentor.
• Work closely with your mentor to ensure that all research activities are completed.
At the end of the quarter I will ask each of your mentors to assign a grade representing your progress this quarter. This will be your final grade for the quarter.
