August 24, 1943 Dear Margaret, Did I tell you about the rough house last Saturday -- turning over of beds and general confusion after a little celebration? Just like the old fraternity house days. To cap it all, Kenner stole the fuses out of the light box and plunged the house into darkness. There were mild repercussions today when the local curate of the High Church of England came over to pay us a social visit and gently inquired into the "tornado." He lives down the street, and sound must carry well around here, especially about two in the morning. He plays chess and promised to come over some evening for a game. Much love, Herb |
