Dear Margaret,

The persistent rain, and I do mean persistent, has various effects upon our group. The city group is moderately depressed or more exactly annoyed. I, with a proper appreciation of the value of water to man, beast and soil, find the downpours mildly exhilarating. But then even as a youngster, I always enjoyed the rain, either sitting out on the porch reading a book or walking in the rain. The sugar cane has grown a foot in the past several weeks. Now that we are coming into the fall season, the fruit is maturing. Our breakfast, in addition to tea and toast, now includes oranges off the trees in the front yard.

Much love,

Herb
