This utility converts Esperanto text of any length from X-format (cx gx hx jx sx ux) or XX-format (cxx gxx hxx jxx sxx uxx) to standard orthography (ĉ ĝ ĥ ĵ ŝ ŭ), or to the ampersand codes still used to create some web pages.

Instrukcioj Instructions
  1. Preparu la tekston per vortfarigilo (ekz. "Word") uzante literon "X" aŭ (prefere) "XX" por montri ĉapelitajn literojn, t.e., literojn kun supersignoj. (Ekz., tajpu cxx por indiki ĉ.)
  2. Ĝin engluu en la skatoleton flavan kaj kliku taŭgan butonon.
  3. La normigita teksto aperos en la verda skatoleto.
  4. Ĝin rekopiu al via vortfarigilo.
  5. Tie elektu la tekston kaj korektu la literaron kaj stilon.
  1. Prepare text in a word processor (e.g. Word) using the letter "X" or (better) XX to show superscripted letters. (E.g., represent ĉ as cxx.)
  2. Paste it into the yellow box and hit click the appropriate button.
  3. The revised text will appear in the green box at the right.
  4. Select it and copy it back to your word processor.
  5. Highlight the text there and select your preferred type font and style.

  • Pri la Originala Teksto. Ne gravas se la tekso pli longas ol la videbla parto de la skatoleto. Ĝi povas enhavi novalineojn, citilojn, supersignojn super vokaloj, ĉinajn glifojn aŭ aliajn alfabetojn; tamen perdiĝos kursivaĵoj ktp.
  • Malavantaĝeto de la Formato-X. La formato-X nun oftas en Esperanta komputiko, sed povas esti ambigua kiam teksto enhavas pruntaĵojn el aliaj lingvoj. . Por reteni la literon X post c, g, h, j, s, aŭ u (ekz. La Chaux-de-Fonds), metu krisignon antaux la Xon (La Chau!x-de-Fonds). Malaperos la krisigno kaj restos neŝanĝita la Xon.   • The Input Text. The text may be much longer than the visible area of the box. It may contain carriage returns, quotation marks, accent marks, Chinese characters or other alphabets, but italic or other formatting will be lost.
  • Disadvantages of the X Format The X format common in Esperanto computer circles can include ambiguities in imported words. To retain the letter x after c, g, h, j, s, or u (e.g., in the name La Chaux-de-Fonds), place an exclamation point immediately before the X (La Chau!x-de-Fonds). The exclamation mark will be removed and the x left intact. (This is of course unnecessary in XX format.)
  • Disadvantages of the H Format Zamenhof counseled the use of H where circumflexed letters were impractical, but that convention never became general and presents serious challenges for automation (including alphabetizing). H is a frequent letter in Esperanto, so the use of H to show a circumflexed consonant (and linked dropping of the breve on Ŭ) cannot be perfectly transformed by this page. Therefore H-coding is here converted only to XX format for manual inspection before final conversion.
  • Warning About the ANSI ".txt." File Format. Some very simple word processors cannot accommodate international character sets. Pasting standard Esperanto into them typically results in the diacritics vanishing again. To save Esperanto in an ANSI ".txt" file, you must use "ampersand" Unicode encoding. On this page use the X or XX format and click on "Donu Retkodojn ANSI" to convert to that coding.
