XÍNG Jūshí 邢居实 (1068-1087) died before he reached the age of 20, but left a charming collection of writings called Fǔzhǎng Lù 拊掌录, which means something like “Stories to Make You Laugh.” This one is a satire on pretentious calligraphy. For nearly a thousand years it has been making Chinese readers laugh.
