About preparing constructive critism and comments of your classmates' projects:

• Read the prospectus drafts from your assigned group.
• Provide written notes for each person in the other group either on the draft or separately.
• Things to look for:
• 
  1) Look for grammatical, spelling, punctuation and other writing points.
  2) Comment on aspects of organization. Moving paragraphs or sections around to help the logic or flow of the work is often something that a reader can see that an author cannot.
  3) Refining the argument. Think through the logic and order of the argument and suggest what might be missing or insufficiently explained or supported.
  4) Comment on any of the sections (see the Components link on the web site) need further work or or explanation.
  5) Your comments, from your own perspective, knowledge, and experience, on the conceptual issues that the author is working on are most helpful at this juncture.
  6) Offer literature that might help the author make arguments stronger or conceptualize an issue in a useful way. The readings may have nothing directly to do with the topic but could help with the comparative, theoretical, or relational aspects of the research project.

  Remember, constructive does not mean that you hold back what you think, but that you think about and express the things that you feel will improve the work - and present them nicely.
