This winter count was produced on the Fort Totten Reservation in North Dakota.

A Nakota transliteration appears by each entry, probably added by a school teacher.

· 1837, 1838 - Great smallpox epidemic.

· 1877 - The year of the withering winter, extremely harsh winter, Yanktonai Sioux's first year on reservation (2nd row from top, right of center).
