Kwai Ng received his B.S. in journalism from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, his L.L.B. from University of London, his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Chicago. His research interests are in
sociology of law, language use, social theory, and sociology of culture. He has conducted field research
on Chinese ethnic churches in the United States and the bilingual common law courtrooms in Hong Kong. He recently
published a book entitled
The Common Law in Two Voices.
It examines the relationship between language and law based on his ethnographic study of Hong Kong's legal bilingualism.
