In-Flight Observations
Advantages:
- Observe automation use in full context
- Produces a corpus of actual incidents (essential for the design of simulator evaluation)
Difficulties:
- Interesting incidents can be few and far between
- Severe restrictions on recording - field notes only
- Requires considerable technical expertise
