About Me

I am a Ph.D. candidate at the University of California, San Diego. My primary research interest is political representation in the comparative and American contexts.

My dissertation research examines the behavior and homestyle of representatives of legislators in their districts. I examine the patterns of constituency engagement, communication, and district funding of US House Members.

If you have questions about my research, please contact me via email: lspangle[at]ucsd[dot]edu.

Thanks to my research (and for fun, to be honest!), I spend a lot of my time working in R and Python. I am continually seeking new ways to make my code more efficient and transparent. I'm also active in the R-Ladies group in San Diego.
