12b. The Yān Dynasty (Ān Lùshān Rebellion)

In December, 755, a northern general named Ān Lùshān 安祿山安禄山 declared himself emperor and named his new dynasty Yān . The rebellion dragged on until 763, and it left the Táng dynasty shaken. The Yān “dynasty” did not have temple names, so their Chinese personal names are given here.
